Fun with My YuDu!

On Thursday, Michael's had the best price I have ever come across on the YuDu - reg. $299, it was on sale for $99. I made up my mind that I would sacrifice something this month & get it.

I made a call to the nearest Michael's & found out they had two left. I took a "lunch break" and headed out to the store.

The box was alot larger than I thought it would be. I had worked with the YuDu last summer, but never saw one boxed. Because it was so big, it stayed boxed in the livingroom until the weekend when I had time to figure out where to put my new toy... I mean investment ;)

I found a link to a video where the creative crafter used vinyl on the underside of her screen instead of hassling with the emulsion. I figured that would be a great way to try a few things out without wasting my emulsion & permanently setting my screen (there's no emulsion remover in the box - what's up with that ProvoCraft?)

I also found that the YuDu brand paint was a little expensive. Heading to the internet again, I did a little research & found that the paint needed to be waterbased & designed for screenprinting. So, I decided to venture over into the t-shirt section of Joann & see what the price difference was... Well, PC sells the YuDu paint (3 oz.) for about $7.99-$10.99 per bottle & Plaid Simply Screen (2 oz.) is $2.99. So, since I was under budget constraints, I decided to give it a try <-- I'll come back on Thursday & do a little comparison for my Thursday Test.

I like the projects I did so far - baby blankets for a friend's baby shower & "matching shirts" for me and my daughter.

Stay tuned this week for more adventures with the YuDu!

(Don't forget I still have Cricut Cartridges up for grabs - send your friends over for more chances to win!)

  1. I got a Yudu too! Mine is still in the box though... My friend Laurie that has one suggested to me to purchase Speedball Screen Printing Ink which can be purchased at Hobby Lobby and just so happens to be on sale starting tomorrow for 30% off in the artist supply section.

The baby blankets with name and birthdate are a great idea!

Would love for you to share any good links you come across for when I decide to break mine out of the box. :)
